THE COLONIES
The Colonies region is the outermost region of the Core, immediately inside the Rim, a vast area encompassing the greater part of the galaxy. The Colonies
region is long-settled and well-populated, and is significant in trade and industry, but somewhat less overpopulated than many parts of the Core region.
The Colonies were being settled relatively early in galactic history, and were already partly integrated into the interstellar civilization of the Core by the time
of the founding of the Republic. As the name implies, the region was heavily colonized by Humans and other races like the Duros and their offshoot cousins
the Neimoidians. Many worlds of the Colonies were also homeworlds of sentient races, some of which were colonized by others, some of which were
eventually absorbed into the Core civilization's sphere of influence. Useful planets in the Colonies were often settled, and many of them are highly-developed,
have significant populations, and are well-established societies. Many worlds of the Colonies are somewhat idyllic, enjoying many of the benefits of the secure
and cosmopolitan Core, as well as being less over-developed or burdened by history, like many worlds in the Rim. The Colonies are a vital trade link between
the regions of the Rim and the Core. Several regions within the Colonies lie near to intersections of the galaxy's major hyperspace routes.




The Negs
The Negs region in the Colonies is a territorial and historical extension of that region in the Core region. The Negs is defined by a border roughly parallel
to the Namadii Corridor in the east, and has an ill-defined border in the west, where Wild Space and the Unknown Regions begin, and few hyperspace
routes are established. No worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred thus far in canon lie within the Negs in the Colonies region.

The Northern Dependencies
The Northern Dependencies region in the Colonies is a territorial and historical extension of that region in the Core region. The Northern Dependencies
is a well-settled region of primarily Human colonized worlds which was initially a direct extension of Coruscant's influence in the galaxy. It contains some
non-Human worlds, and has also been settled by non-Human races as well as Humans. As a region built by spacefarers, colonists, and settlers, it was
a prominent springboard towards northward expansion of Core civilization. The Northern Dependencies is defined strictly by the Perlemian Trade Route
in the east, and roughly by the Namadii Corridor in the west, containing worlds on along both sides of that hyperspace route. The development of
the Hydian Way increased the prominence and independence of planets in this region. Worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred in canon which lie within
the Northern Dependencies in the Colonies region, and canon races which originate there:




The Slice
The Slice is a massive wedge-shaped region extending from the Colonies to the Outer Rim, which is less dominated by Humans than most large regions of
the known galaxy. The portion of the Slice in the Colonies region is the most densely populated portion of the Slice, and unlike many Rim regions contains
a great many worlds colonized by Humans and others, along with the homeworlds of many races. The region was absorbed into the civilization of the Core
relatively early in interstellar history, and contains many well-established societies both indigenous and colonial. The Slice is strictly defined in the north by
the Perlemian Trade Route, including worlds which lie along that hyperspace route, and in the south by the Corellian Run, including worlds which lie along
that hyperspace route. Parts of the Slice region in the Colonies were at one point within the Neimoidian domains, and contain numerous Neimoidian
colony worlds. Worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred in canon which lie within the Slice in the Colonies region, and canon races which originate there:






The Southern Core
The Southern Core region in the Colonies is a territorial and historical extension of that region within the Core region. The Southern Core is a well-populated
region which contains some colonies of Humans and others, as well as numerous homeworlds of other races. This region served as a springboard to
southern exploration and expansion into the Rim. The border of the Southern Core in the east strictly follows the Corellian Run, and has an ill-defined
border in the west, where Wild Space and the Unknown Regions begin, and few hyperspace routes are established. Worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred
in canon which lie within the Southern Core in the Colonies region, and canon races which originate there:
