THE CORE
The Core region is the center of the interstellar galactic civilization, and is the most prominent region of the Galactic Core, which also includes the Deep Core
region and the Colonies region. The Core is densely settled and heavily populated, and is a region unmatched in influence on interstellar culture, technology,
and economy. The Core was certainly the most significant region in interstellar development and galactic history, and has always been the political center of
the galaxy, the acme of which was the Human homeworld of Coruscant. Useful planets in the Core tend to be settled, and many of them are highly-developed,
have significant populations, and are well-established societies. Many Core worlds are deeply socially stratified, and are ruled by nobility or other traditional
power structures. The Core region is relatively compact when compared to the other regions of the galaxy, but contains many sectors due to its high
population density. The region is the terminus of most of the major hyperspace lanes, some of which define the regions of the Core.
The Negs & Coruscant
The city-planet of Coruscant, believed to be the ancient homeworld of the Humans, was the political center of the galaxy for nearly all interstellar history.
Galactic regions and the hyperspace routes that define and cross them were all established in relation to Coruscant, and galactic north is defined by
the position of the planet. As a result, all hyperspace coordinates leading to the any area west of Coruscant begin with a negative number, leading to
this region to be named The Negs. This region is only moderately developed despite its proximity to Coruscant, however the region along the Metellos
Trade Route is heavily populated and historically important to Core civilization. The region is defined by a border roughly parallel to the Namadii Corridor
in the east, and has an ill-defined border in the west, where Wild Space and the Unknown Regions begin, and few hyperspace routes are established.

The Northern Dependencies
The Northern Dependencies is a heavily settled region of primarily Human colonized worlds which were initially a direct extension of Coruscant's influence
in the galaxy. It also likely contains some non-Human worlds, and certainly has been settled by non-Human races as well as Humans. As a region built by
spacefarers, colonists, and settlers, it was a prominent springboard towards northward expansion of Core civilization. The region is defined strictly by
the Perlemian Trade Route in the east, and roughly to the Namadii Corridor in the west, containing worlds along both sides of that hyperspace route.
The blazing of the Hydian Way through the region much later in galactic history further enhanced the prominence and independence of planets in this
region. Worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred in canon which lie within the Northern Dependencies in the Core region:
The Inner Core (Arrowhead)
The Inner Core is one of the most densely populated regions of the galaxy, and contains many thousands of worlds colonized by Humans and others, as well
as homeworlds of many races. It has been part of Human-dominated interstellar society in the Core since the development of hyperspace travel, and most
worlds in the Inner Core are well-established societies with long histories. It was central to the development of interstellar trade, exploration, and hyperspace
route development, and is the most prominent starship and technology development region in the galaxy. The colonization of the region by Humans directed
much of the momentum of galactic exploration southward and eastward, helping to define the limits of 'known space' in any time period. The region is also
referred to as Arrowhead, due to its historic role as the base region of the Slice region of the galaxy, and a reference to its shape as the 'head' of the 'arrow'
created by the Slice. The Inner Core is strictly defined in the north as all areas east of Coruscant that are south of the Perlemian Trade Route, including worlds
which lie along that hyperspace route. In the south, the Inner Rim is defined strictly by the Corellian Run until it meets the Corellian Trade Spine at Corellia,
where its border continues approximate to the boundary of the Corellian Sector until it reaches the limits of the Deep Core. The blazing of the Hydian Way
through the Inner Core much later in galactic history cemented it as the single most powerful region in the galaxy.
Worlds seen, mentioned, or inferred in canon which lie within the Inner Core region, and canon races which originate there:
The Southern Core
The Southern Core is a well-populated region which contains long-standing colonies of Humans, Duros, and others, as well as some species homeworlds.
It was developed and absorbed relatively early in Core civilization expansion, primarily as a later extension of the development of the Inner Core. While
deeply engrained in Core civilization, the Southern Core has always been a bit more independent-minded than the other regions of the Core, partly due
to its distance from Coruscant by way of hyperspace, as well as the internal development of regional societies and powers in this region. This region
served as a springboard to southern exploration and expansion, contributing to the development of the Core civilization's most remote regions, chiefly
through the Rimma Trade Route which originates here. The border of the Southern Core in the east approximates the boundary of the Corellian Sector
from the Deep Core until it meets the Corellian Run at Corellia, where its border continues strictly following that hyperspace lane. The Southern Core
has an ill-defined border in the west, where Wild Space and the Unknown Regions begin, and few hyperspace routes are established.
