Star Wars Techno Union

The Techno Union was one of the galactic trade guilds officially franchised by the Senate. The Union was a conglomerate of high-tech civilizations, collectives, and
corporations which developed and promoted the use of advanced technology. Some components of the Techno Union were historically significant manufacturing
concerns or technology firms which predated the last incarnation of the Republic, however most were organizations which had grown to interstellar prominence
during the millennial reign of the last Republic. The Union was formed by powerful Core planets which were either culturally devoted to technology, or more often
had high-tech or manufacturing industries which were the most influential entities in their starsytem. The Techno Union was formally established as a centralized
guild sometime before the 76th century (before 400 BBY), when the politically and economically powerful Union planets, and the many other concerns around
the galaxy which had joined them, established a legal charter. The Techno Union thus became an interplanetary organization with its own leadership, facilities,
resources, property, and planets. Its primary role was as a cartel which smoothed relations between competing developers, encouraged joint endeavors amongst
its members, and which provided legal protection and political advocacy. The Union also used its wealth and resources to conduct cutting-edge, large-scale, or
quasi-legal research and development, and to build its own heavy manufacturing industries. As its power and influence grew, the Union built up a private military
force to secure their facilities and planetary holdings, and used its importance and influence to gain the right to directly appoint a member of the Galactic Senate,
like the Trade Federation and the Banking Clan. As a Union, the organization exercised some authority over its subsidiaries and members, however its member
components were independent, and free to end their association. The Techno Union eventually expanded into industries and fields of interest unrelated to its
created purpose, like the Trade Federation and Commerce Guild, and ultimately competed with those economic empires for dominance in the galaxy. The Union
contained members from across the galaxy, and people of numerous races, however the leadership was dominated by the high-tech planets of the Core which
belonged to the Union at any particular point in history. In the later days of the Republic, the Union was lead by Skakoans. The Techno Union's headquarters
was on their colony world of Skako Minor, chosen to maintain the guild's independence from their homeworld of Skako, which was itself an important member.
Other developed homeworlds like Tibrin were well-connected to the Union, as were many more remote planets like Utapau which hosted Union members and
facilities. The Techno Union directly owned many less-populated worlds like Mustafar or Hypori, or simply occupied less-developed worlds like Nelvaan.

The Skakoans who lead the Techno Union came from a culture which celebrates technology, whose homeworld is a fully transformed city-world, and who require
pressure suits to breathe the air and survive the pressure of worlds safe for Humans and many others. Their zeal for technological development and advancement
made them fitting representatives of the Union's philosophy and goals of technology and profit. The leader of the Techno Union was Foreman Wat Tambor,
who became their representative on the Separatist Council during the Clone Wars. The Techno Union was represented in the Galactic Senate by Gume Saam.

The Union had become a powerful economic component of the Republic, to the point that the interests and ambitions of its leadership began to diverge from
some of its most significant members. The organization was a primary instigator of the Clone Wars, and while it profited immensely it also lost members,
a significant portion of its resources and facilities, and ultimately had its treasonous duplicity exposed as a result. While the organization maintained official
loyalty to the Republic and neutrality in the war, their open collaboration with the Separatist military was far more conspicuous than the other guilds. Their
involvement with the Separatists, as well as their widely-known role in political corruption, were used as a pretext for nationalizing the Techno Union following
the war. All members continued on after the war under the Empire, while subsidiaries of the Union were parceled off or absorbed as state entities.

Arakyd Industries
Arakyd Industries was an arms and droid manufacturer which specialized in military and security technology, based on the planet Vulpter. The company was
a leading institution in artificial intelligence, which they developed for droids and for stationary computer systems. Arakyd was formed in the galactic
middle ages, in the 11th century before the Republic calendar (around 9000 BBY). Arakyd was historically an aggressive and sometimes unscrupulous
competitor, an approach which mirrored the aggressive but tactful droids they produced. During the millennial reign of the last Republic, Arakyd became
an independent and enthusiastic member of the Techno Union. After the nationalization of the Techno Union, Arakyd maintained its independence under
the Empire, and was a significant producer of droids for the Imperial military and private industry. Subsidiaries included Arakyd Aerodynes, Inc. and
Viper Sensor Intelligence Systems. Known products of Arakyd Industries:

Baktoid Industries
Baktoid Industries was a major manufacturer of military equipment and vehicles, and was the largest battle droid manufacturer in the galaxy. Based on
the planet Geonosis, the company had resources on a number of planets in the Rim, allowing their activities to be poorly scrutinized by the Republic.
Baktoid was heavily contracted by the Trade Federation to construct equipment for its Trade Defense Forces during the last centuries of the Republic.
The company specialized in battle droids and military assault vehicles, and in intelligent assault platforms which were themselves droids. Baktoid's
direct association with the Separatist Alliance led to its ruin and dissolution after the Clone Wars. Subsidiaries included Baktoid Combat Automata,
Baktoid Armor Workshop, Baktoid Fleet Ordnance, and Cestus Cybernetics. Known products of Baktoid Industries:

BlasTech Industries
BlasTech Industries was the largest and most significant of the major arms manufacturing company in the galaxy. BlasTech was a leading developer
and manufacturer of blaster technology since before the 43rd century (3700 BBY), and constructed the most widely used and reliable blasters in
in many eras of Republic history. BlasTech also manufactures larger laser defense systems, canons, and missiles. Their involvement in the Techno
Union gave them significant influence in that organization, and helped to increase the ubiquitousness of their already popular products.
After the Clone Wars, BlasTech continued on as the principle arms manufacturer during the Imperial era, and was a major producer for
the Imperial military. Subsidiaries included BlasTech Corporation and Tarascii Explosives. Known products of BlasTech Industries:

Colicoid Creation Nest
Colicoid Creation Nest was a battle droid and assault ship design and manufacturing concern based on the planet Colla 4. The company is said to have
been created and run by Colicoids, an insect-like species which has yet to appear in canon, but who are supposed to look very similar to the droideka
destroyer droids that CCN designed and built. Much of their unique and advanced technology seems to reflect design geometry based on
the ecosystem of their planet. It is unknown what became of the Creation Nest after the nationalization of the Techno Union by the Empire.
CCN had some affiliation with Phlac-Arphocc Automata Industries, another Techno Union member. Known products of Colicoid Creation Nest:

Corellian Engineering Corporation
Corellian Engineering Corporation was one of the major shipbuilding concerns in the galaxy, and was likely the single largest manufacturer of civilian
starships. It was based on the planet Corellia, and was the most significant economic concern in the Corellian system. CEC was the leading producer
of cargo ships, freighters, transports, and compact cruisers, but also manufactured escort-sized military vessels and small arms. Its relative age as
a company is not known, however it is known to have absorbed several other large corporations on Corellia which were historically relevant, which
suggests that CEC or some of its core components likely predated the millennial reign of the last Republic. CEC joined its chief competitor Kuat Drive
Yards in becoming early members of the Techno Union, increasing the prominence of the Union, and simultaneously expanding the CEC's already
expansive market for their reliable ships. After the Union was dissolved, CEC continued under the Empire to perform its vital role in the construction
of starships, and even expanded its operations for the Imperial military, but also became increasingly indistinct from the Imperial government of
Corellia. Subsidiaries of the CEC included Corellian Arms and Corellia StarDrive. Known products of the Corellian Engineering Corporation:

Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies
Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies was an engineering firm which specialized in constructing assembly plants, based on the planet Utapau. FOSA
designed production facilities, including their proprietary scalable factory system which was self-constructing. FOSA was also a less-notable starfighter
manufacturer. Due to their close association with the Techno Union and the Separatists, the company was likely disbanded after the Clone Wars,
or was nationalized or otherwise absorbed by the Empire. Known products of Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies:

Starfighters
Belbullab-22 Heavy Starfighter Mankvim-814 Interceptor Starfighter

Geonosian Industries
Geonosian Industries was a large weapons and vehicle manufacturing company directly associated with the government of Geonosis. The company
provided equipment for Geonosis' defense forces, however its equipment was available for purchase on the interstellar market. Their starcraft and
vehicles were sold around the Outer Rim, to wealthy clients, local or regional concerns, as well as to the Banking Clan and other trade guilds for use
in their corporate militaries. The company also participated in joint projects with fellow Geonosian company and Techno Union member Baktoid
Industries. Its last leader, Poggle the Lesser, eventually formed a direct association with the Separatist Alliance, which led to its ruin and dissolution
after the Clone Wars. Subsidiaries included Gordarl Weaponsmiths, which was their arms manufacturing company, and Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights
Collective, which was their starship manufacturing company. Known products of Geonosian Industries:

Known subsidiaries of Golan Arms included VenteX Construction Yards and GolanGear. Known products of Golan Arms:

Artillery and Starbases
DF.9 Anti-Infantry Laser Cannon Battery Haven-class Medical Station Golan M3185 Shield Gate Station

Holowan
Holowan was a manufacturer of high-end security droids, based on the planet of Halowan in the Colonies region. The company was self-styled as
the "Friendly Technology People", and specialized in creating highly-intelligent and violence-prone battle droids, most of which were sold as security
forces to those who had plenty of money and little concern for what happened to those which ran afoul of their security. Holowan's most well-known
products were the IG-series of enforcer droids, named IG as they were originally contracted by the I.G. Banking Clan to meet their extensive security
and debt collection needs. Subsidiaries included Holowan Laboratories and Holowan Mechanicals. Known products of Holowan:

Combat Droids
IG-series Assassin Droid IG-series Lancer Droid IG-86 Sentinel Droid IG-100 MagnaGuard Battle Droid IG-RM Security Droid

Kalibac Industries
Kalibac Industries was a less-significant droid manufacturer, which began as a Geonosian company, but eventually became an interstellar corporation
based on Coruscant, as well as the not-yet-canon planet Procopia. Kalibac produced advanced and high-end droids, but were not particularly prominent,
due in large part to the aggressive competition of their main competitor, Cybot Galactica. As a result, the majority of their clients were fellow Techno
Union outfits. Kalibac is not known to have produced anything after the Clone Wars, so the company may or may not have been dissolved along with
the Techno Union. Known products of Kalibac Industries:

Mining Droids
DLC-13 Mining Droid Electrorefining Droid Ore Extraction Droid

Kuat Drive Yards
Kuat Drive Yards was one of the galaxy's largest manufacturing concerns, specializing in starships and heavy industrial and military equipment.
KDY was a huge conglomerate, whose various companies included major arms and repulsor technology producers. The company was ancient,
having been formed in the 171st century before the Republic calendar (25,000 BBY) by noble families on the planet Kuat, most notably the Kuat
family for which the planet was named. The company's shipwrights were instrumental in the steadily growing tide of interstellar colonization,
and the massive orbital facilities of the company were formed into a large ring which circled the planet. KDY was also instrumental in funding
the terraforming of the planet Kuat, transforming it from a harsh but habitable world into an idyllic and artificially-enhanced terrestrial world.
The orbital shipyards and assembly facilities on the ring were probably the most significant in the galaxy, however KDY and its various
subsidiaries had many facilities in other starsystems. KDY had significant construction facilities on Corellia, and was an important part of
the Corellian economy. KDY also owned remote planets entirely where their facilities were located, such as Rothana in the Outer Rim.
Planet Kuat Planet Corellia Planet Rothana
Kuat Drive Yards joined its starship manufacturing competitor Corellian Engineering Corporation in becoming early members of the Techno Union,
increasing the prominence of the Union, and simultaneously expanding KDY's already significant political clout. The company left the Union at
the outset of the Clone Wars in order to distance itself from the Techno Union's collaboration with the Separatists. KDY became the primary
manufacturer of large military starships, starfighters, and military assault craft for the Republic, and subsequently became the sole supplier
of all heavy military technology for the Imperial military. Subsidiaries of Kuat Drive Yards included Kuat Systems Engineering, Kuat Shipyards,
Santhe Shipyards, Kuat Vehicles, Rothana Heavy Engineering, and Ubrikkian Industries. Known products of Kuat Drive Yards:

Republic Sienar Systems
Republic Sienar Systems was an advanced engineering company which produced luxury starships, arms, and experimental technology.
Based on Lianna, in the important Tion Cluster in the Outer Rim, the company was led by the powerful and politically active Sienar family.
Around the time of the Clone Wars, RSS was led by Raith Sienar, a brilliant engineer with ties to politically powerful individuals in the Republic,
including Chancellor Palpatine. The company went bankrupt near the end of the Clone Wars, and RSS was dissolved by the Senate for its
association with the Separatist state. It was revived shortly after by the Empire, under the authority of the Banking Clan, which itself was
under the direct authority of the Emperor, as Sienar Fleet Technologies (see Banking Clan). Known products of Republic Sienar Systems:

Spacecraft and Weapons
