Commerce Guild | IG Banking Clan | Techno Union | Trade Federation
Corporate Alliance | Other Concerns | Other Tech
The Corporate Alliance was a galaxy-wide organization which represented the collective interests of a huge number of corporations of all sizes which were
independent of the licensed trade guilds. The Alliance was in many ways more influential than even the trade guilds, as through their corporate contracts,
bureaucracy, and member companies, they had major influence on nearly every planet, and had the power to effect trade and trade policy. As a chartered
organization, the Alliance enjoyed the same protections as the trade guilds, but unlike the guilds, didn't exert direct control or authority over its members.
The Alliance included many of the largest and most powerful corporations in the galaxy, as well as a huge number of less-substantial members ranging from
the very large to the relatively small. It served as a legal and political arm of these corporations which lobbied for policies that favor corporate power, and
acted as an intermediary to protect corporate rights as defined by law in the face of other organizations, planets, or local concerns. The Alliance developed
at some unknown point during the millennial reign of the last Republic, and tended to represent the younger or more independent corporations, rather than
ancient interests. The Alliance grew by presenting itself as a less-controlling alternative to the Commerce Guild, which exercised more direct control over its
members and was controlled by heavily entrenched interests, while still offering all the benefits that collective influence can bring. The Alliance eventually
eclipsed the competing Commerce Guild in prominence by the later days of the Republic, and became so powerful and omnipresent that the vast majority
of companies which did interstellar business of any kind operated under the auspices of the Alliance for their own benefit. The collective power of
independent corporations in the galaxy was immense, and the Alliance allowed them to politically assert that influence with one voice. The Corporate
Alliance's headquarters was on Murkhana, and the organization was prominent on many other planets, such as Raxus Prime and Bomis Koori 4.
After the Clone Wars, the Alliance was headquartered in the Corporate Sector, on the planet Etti 4, as part of the Corporate Sector Authority.
The Corporate Alliance Directorate was the governing body of the Alliance. The leader of the Corporate Alliance Directorate, and therefore of
the Alliance, was Magistrate Passel Argente, who sat on the Separatist Council during the Clone Wars. The Alliance was represented in
the Separatist Parliament by Voe Atell. Denaria Kee was Passel Argente's aide.
Unlike the trade guilds, the Alliance was not ruined by the Clone Wars, despite their direct involvement with the Separatists. While subject to Imperial rule,
the Alliance was based in the Corporate Sector, and had semi-autonomy in the name of the Empire through the Corporate Sector Authority, allowing many
corporations to maintain propriety over their operations. Any company which sold their products on the interstellar market is assumed to have operated
under the auspices of the Alliance in any era, unless known to be a member of one of the trade guilds, or specifically noted as being outside of the Alliance.
