The New Republic | The First Order | The Resistance | The Resistance War

The Resistance was a paramilitary guerrilla army operating in and around the territory of the First Order. It was the private
army of Leia Organa, who created the organization to harass the First Order after the New Republic failed to militarize in
response to the growing threat. The Resistance was little more than a reboot of the Rebel Alliance, however it was significantly
smaller and even more poorly-equipped. The only reason the Rebel Alliance was so small was the Empire's control over all
regions of the galaxy, preventing any open recruitment. The fact that the Resistance was so much smaller than the Alliance
indicates either that Organa had become a massively unpopular figure, or that the politics of the First Order was largely
attractive to the majority of the galaxy. The Resistance should have been able to attract many volunteers, considering
the oppression taking place in First Order-controlled space, Organa's fame, and the many well-respected ex-Rebel leaders
who had joined the militia. The size of the Resistance is a depressing indication of galactic apathy, considering there were
trillions of people in the galaxy and the Resistance's ability to openly recruit within the New Republic. The Resistance did
receive the majority of its equipment and funding from sympathetic elements with the New Republic's government. After
the New Republic's military was destroyed at the start of the Resistance War, the tiny Resistance became the only military
force opposing the First Order. General Organa was the militia's leader from its founding until her death in DS 8012 (35 ABY):

The Resistance military was a reformed Rebel Alliance, functionally divided into an Army and a Navy, with a Starfighter Corps
as a semi-independent arm of the fleet. Its equipment, senior leadership, strategic posture, rank system and insignia, and
other elements were all slight modifications of the same elements within the Alliance. Just as the First Order was created by
those wishing to LARP as the Empire and was led by relics from that era, the Resistance was likewise created to do the same
for the Rebel Alliance, and was conversely led by ex-Rebel extremists who hated the Empire. In order to best play out their
war reenactment with live ammunition, the Resistance adopted the forms, practices, and strategic approach of the Rebels.

RESISTANCE BASES
As a outnumbered anti-First Order force operating in and around their territory, the Resistance's only facilities were hidden bases
located on remote worlds, which were usually otherwise uninhabited. Due to poor planning and their puny forces, the Resistance
was only able to maintain one base at a time, as the First Order was highly successful in tracking their movements and eliminating
their bases. Worlds known to have hosted Resistance military bases:

The first headquarters of the Resistance was a base on D'Qar in the Ileenium starsystem. After its destruction, the Resistance
briefly fled to an old Rebel base on Crait, before being driven out. Sometime in the following months, their last headquarters
was established as a hidden jungle base on the planet Ajan Kloss.

THE RESISTANCE NAVY

The Resistance Fleet was a tiny armada composed of perhaps a dozen or more warships, augmented by support vessels and
starfighters. The majority of their fleet was destroyed in the first days of the Resistance War, leaving them with only a few
armed starships with which to operate. Fortunately, this was not a factor in the final outcome of the war, as the First Order's
large and powerful fleets were mysteriously defeated in a single day by small civilian ships and other unexplained activity.

Leadership
The admiralty of the Resistance Fleet was subordinate to General Organa, and its leaders were considered to have seniority
over those from other military branches. Naval officers in the field were in command of overall operations and all forces.

Starfleet
The Resistance Fleet was composed of a dozen or so warships and support vessels, augmented by dozens of starfighters. The Resistance's
only capital ship was destroyed in the first days of the Resistance War, along with the majority of their escort cruisers.

THE RESISTANCE STARFIGHTER CORPS

The Resistance Starfighter Corps was a specialized branch of the Resistance Fleet which had an independent chain of command,
and maintained their own equipment and supplies. The Corps was the primary offensive branch of the Resistance, which
conducted independent missions and also acted in support of army or navy forces, in which case they were subordinate
to the leaders of which ever branch was in charge of the operation.

Leadership
The Resistance Starfighter Corps was composed of flight certified officers, who were subordinate to military command and
General Organa. Corps officers usually presided over starfighter assets only in battle, subordinate to mission command.
Known Staff Officers

Organization
The Resistance Starfighter Corps was divided into Squadrons, which were their largest organizational groups. Like the Rebel
military, Resistance squadrons were given designations based on paint color, however were eventually joined by other units
with unique, non-color names. As the primary Resistance forces, starfighter squadrons were central to their operations
during the Resistance War. Some Resistance squadrons operated independently of the militia's main forces.
Known Squadrons

Forces
The Resistance relied heavily on its starfighers for both its offensive potential and as a necessary component of fleet defence.
The RSC almost exclusively flew the exact same fighters the Rebel Alliance used 34 years earlier, some of which were outdated
back when the Alliance flew them. The A-wings and X-wings used by the RSC were slightly improved versions of those used by
the Rebels, but were still decades-old compared to the latest starfighters. The only non-Rebel fighter used by the Resistance
was the StarFortress bomber, which appears to have been designed to attack stationary targets on the ground. The Resistance
seems to have been forced to use them in space due to lack of resources, which resulted in the loss of all fighters and crew.

THE RESISTANCE ARMY

The Resistance Army was a small force which acted as defense forces for Resistance ships and bases. It seems to have been
about a company size at its largest point, and was significantly reduced near the beginning of the Resistance War.
It is unclear if the Army engaged in any campaigns during the war, however it seems unlikely due to its minuscule size.

Leadership
The general staff of the Resistance Army was subordinate to General Organa, and were responsible for Army combat forces as
well as operations and logistics personnel. Army officers were usually limited to command of Army units in combined operations.
Known Staff Officers

Organization
The Resistance Army was primarily composed of small formations, due to its tiny size. Other than the base garrison and naval infantry
force which protected the main body of the Resistance, the vast majority of Resistance forces were loosely-affiliated local cells which
arose during the Resistance War to resist the First Order. These cells formed the majority of the fighting forces opposed to the First
Order, and did most of the fighting in the war with little to no help from the Resistance's core organization. The Resistance was even
less well-coordinated than the Rebellion had been, with each cell acting almost entirely independent of the main organization.
Known Units

Forces
There may have been some varieties of specialized Resistance troopers, however due to their tiny Army, it is possible they only managed
to create several squads of infantry. The Resistance utilized whatever combat vehicles and weapons it could acquire, and is not known
to have possessed any, armor, walkers, or other frontal assault vehicles.
