Galactic Empire Sith Order

Sith Lords, Galactic Empire
The Sith Order was an ancient religious society devoted to the dark side of the Force, comprised of members of various races in the known
galaxy who were capable of wielding the Force. The Sith were occult, authoritarian, ritualistic, and martial, and were philosophically devoted
to conflict, exploitation, the domination of the powerful, and to that which is unnatural. The Sith had been the ancient enemies of the Galactic
Republic, and the Jedi who protected it, since their emergence about 7000 years before Episode IV. They were believed destroyed after about
6000 years, having gone into hiding within the Republic as part of a new strategy. Sith Lords, once numerous in the galaxy, were limited to
two in order to prevent competition and preserve secrecy. This strategy resulted in the Sith successfully seizing political control of the Republic
in 7958 (19 BBY), having already begun to transition it into the Galactic Empire. The Sith ruled the Empire with absolute authority, and while
their Order was not explicitly public knowledge, Sith Lords and their Acolytes operated openly under Imperial authority, no longer having
a strategic need to keep their presence a secret. Sith Acolytes in the Galactic Empire were organized into the Imperial Inquisition.

THE NEW ORDER
The Sith Order was led by a pair of Sith Lords, the Dark Lord and their apprentice, who are the only true Sith. They maintained a degree of power
over their dark Acolytes by keeping their most occult and arcane knowledge privileged. Darth Sidious was the Dark Lord of the Sith for more
than a decade before becoming Galactic Emperor, and continued to lead the Sith Order until his death at the hands of his apprentice,
Darth Vader, who also perished in Episode VI. The Imperial Inquisition was formed from fallen Jedi and other Force sensitive beings who
had pledged their service to Sidious, and was organized to hunt for Jedi and to fill the void left by the destruction of the Jedi Order in
monitoring Force sensitive beings in the galaxy. Some beings who were not Force sensitive served the Sith as loyalists, with full knowledge
of whom the Sith were, such as the Imperial Royal Guards.

HEADQUARTERS
The Sith Order was ruled from the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, which had formerly been the Jedi Grand Temple. The Sith ruled the Empire
from at least two other sanctuaries, Fortress Vader, which was a Sith temple and Darth Vader's personal residence, and Fortress Inquisitorius,
which was the headquarters of the Inquisition, as well as being both a Sith temple and an Imperial military installation.

ARCHENEMIES
The Jedi and other Force-wielding opponents were the greatest threat to the Sith, and were hunted by the Empire and its Sith agents in
particular. The Jedi were actively working to undermine the Sith, while others simply regarded the Sith as an impediment to operating
openly. Force wielders were the only opponents capable of defeating the Sith in personal combat, so the Empire placed bounties on
them to force them to largely remain hidden. The inability of the Jedi or others to organize against the Sith significantly reduced their
potential threat. Most of these archenemies of the Sith chose to adopt a long-term strategy, and sought to teach new apprentices to
continue on their activities and traditions, with the aim of surviving and preparing for a future time in which the Sith could be defeated.
